This is ii-critical-confessions, a blog where you can criticize and critique the show we all know (and probably love, but here it's subjective), Inanimate Insanity!

Here, our goal isn't to spread negativity or awareness - we're simply here for you to talk about a detail in the show you dislike, a character you dislike, maybe even talk about disliking the show itself! Judge the show and point out things that you think need improvement! We're a safe blog for you to express and vent your feelings - it's healthy to do so! We want this community to feel safe and welcomed here! We DO have criteria, however! See the important stuff below:

IMPORTANT STUFF:

Don't just spout on and on about how you hate something. Give us a reason! Why do you dislike this? Why do you think this makes no sense? Go into detail! This way your reasoning behind your criticism is justified, and makes sense. This blog is meant to be civil. As long as you have a justified reason as to why you don't like something, you're good to go!

Positivity isn't banned here - you can still be critical of a show and like it at the same time - it's just that it isn't the main focus here.

Criticism is welcomed, obviously, but critique is encouraged! Evaluating both the good and bad qualities of the show is very much appreciated here! It would be nice to see how you think something could be improved. After all, the job of a critic is to point out flaws in something to help it improve, no?

Stating little quips of something you don't like is also welcomed - but in-depth analyses of the show and critical thinking about said thing you don't like? Absolutely encouraged!

Please, only talk about the show. Don't bring any outside dramas here. This blog is meant to let you be critical of the show, not everything surrounding it.

Basically, in a nutshell:

"I hate this character!" = bad

"I hate this character because [insert justified reason here]!" = good!

"I hate this character because [insert in-depth analysis of said character with lots of reasons, etc.]!" = great! But you don't have to do this if you don't want to - it's not an absolute necessity.

i feel like an english teacher. sorgy. anyways the rules should be obvious if you're a decent person - no harassment, be respectful, no leaking private information, no death threats, etc.

II 16 SPOILERS

that was certainly a twist alright /neg

i guess i could give the benefit of the doubt and say it just released and it could be elaborated really well later but... idk the contestants not being real feels kinda thrown in (again i might just need time for the next part to really understand it but for now its ehh)

on a positive note i LOVE how patronizing steve cobs is. his infantilization of mephone his shit-eating grin his song basically being an annoying commercial hes so hateble in the best way

I will never understand nickcase ever.

During the show nickel constantly showed to never care for suitcase. He called her a complete wimp, he claimed that nobody would notice if she was gone, & overall tried to find as many negative traits about her as he could so he could only see her as negative traits. Not to mention the fact that nickel manipulating suitcase into stealing the battery caused her to start hallucinating. So, headcanoning them to be dating during the game would just be WORSE, that is VERBAL ABUSE.

Even headcanoning them to date after the show finished is just superrrrrr questionable. Because sure, she does say that she & nickel can try to see eachother, but she also says that they will never be friends. Heck, suitcases arc was all about her standing up for herself, standing her ground & making choices for herself. So them dating post-II is both very OOC (mostly for suitcase, but nickel is pretty ooc nickcase as well) & ignores suitcases growth as a character.

But let’s be far, nickel did say in his exit interview that he hopes to reconnect with suitcase. That is fine, great actually! It shows that he knows that what he did was wrong & that he wants to fix it. But just because nickel wants to reconnect doesn’t mean suitcase wants to, nor does she have to. It’s her choice whether she wants to forgive nickel or not, & her saying that they’re never going to be friends again most likely means she isn’t going to forgive him.

TL;DR: how does nickcase even exist. like. as a concept.

I think the II crew would definitely benefit from one or two sensitivity writers

Some stuff in the writing *are* problematic, especially with the ableism towards cabby and others, but I am POSITIVE that the crew didn't do it out of malice, but rather out of ignorance.

I believe that AE is full of good people and I believe that the Key 3 want the best for their fans, so, although the ableism, old transphobia etc. hurt, I KNOW that they are willing to change stuff and a few sensitivity writers would really help them to avoid iffy tropes

look, I know mil is full of shit and all but when they mention a "cult of personality" towards animationepic...... they're kinda right??? idk let me explain

I don't like the fact some II fans are reaching dream stan level of parasocial, role-playing as adam, brian and justin (No, not the robots, THE ACTUAL PEOPLE) and making weird drawing and even SHIPPING

I came across some weird ass accounts on bsky that I wish I could unsee.

This is honestly extremely scary. The Key 3 are REAL people. Please don't be weird and respect their boundaries

oh wait this has to be critical uhhh

maybe its just the hfjone fan in me, but...

I think ii 17 would've been a better ending than ii 18.

Allow me to explain. I personally enjoyed the final song, and I think the ending we got was fine. We got a lot of sweet moment and it ended off with a mildly bittersweet note.

HOWEVER, I believe II 17 would've been a better ending. With a few modifications, of course.

II 17 (or atleast, the ending version) would've held nearly definite closure for II. In my version, I think Mephone would've killed Cobs but the contestants would stay dead. Mephone can finally live now. He doesn't have anyone to hold him back or anything. But he's also lost everything. His show. His contestants, which were basiclaly his friends. Mepad. A fresh start, one could say.

With II 18, we get a basic plot ending- by this, I mean that the 'heroes' defeat the villain and everyone's practically fine. Sure, Mepad's dead and Knife's a ghost, but everyone else is alive. It just seems a bit anticlimactic, at least for me. It makes it seem like the problem was an easy solve. The race had...no reason to be there, really. Theres really no connection to anything, except maybe the fact it's a 'challenge.' The pace was also confusing- II 18 tried to be serious and comedic at the same time, but the transitions were too sudden. Definitely could've been handled better, but it's not the worst.

Here's my main concern. The shimmers seem to have made some sort of regenerative device, hinting at the now comfirmed 4th season.

Sure, new content. That's great! But I'd like to bring another show up- SpongeBob Squarepants.

Everyone knows this show. First episode published back in 1999. Still making episodes up until today. That's the thing- SpongeBob Squarepants shouldn't still be making episodes. Stephen Hillenburg intended for it to end by the first movie- where SpongeBob became the manager. But Nickelodeon had other plans, and continued making more and more content because of its marketability. Without Stephen to guide the show, we ended up getting a husk of what the show once was. There's still some good episodes here and there, but it's definitely not the same as in the earlier seasons. It lost its spark for the sake of money.

I fear the same might happen to Inanimate Insanity. That we'll just start getting more and more episodes/content, but it just starts to lose what made II enjoyable. It still has the same structure and premise, but it seems to lack anything else. The worst thing that can happen to a series is for its makers to stop thinking with passion and start use their bank accounts to think instead.

i don't like nickloon AND HERES WHY

nickel in season three was way too mellowed down. he was a BITCH in season two and i liked it because he gave suitcase and balloon (and possibly baseball) an antagonist for their own personal stories. him and balloon's relationship was so rushed in season three and COME ON, balloon of all people convinced nickel to change??? they were at eachother's throats last week and not in a sexy way

First off, HELLO! :D Just wanted to say thank you for a civil place to be constructively critical. Every franchise needs that.

Second off, I'd like to point out that it doesn't take a scene where two characters blush in the presence of each other to make a ship canon. I think Adam said that. I know one of the four in the 700K subscribers stream. Whoever said it, I'm too lazy to go back and check, they spoke on how two characters can build a massively long relationship, going through many obstacles, and endlessly caring for each other, and the fans won't care, but the moment one of them blushes, everyone goes wild.

So, gang. This would mean a lot of things.

Silvercandle? Lightbrush? Floorphone? (When writing floorphone, my autocorrect automatically capitalized it lol) Toipad? Knifecase? Tacomic? It's all up for interpretation.

AnimationEpic, we may need a little bit of clarification... I mean, Adam (I think) literally said he doesn't like to just say a ship is canon, he prefers to show it.

So please, AnimationEpic crew. Are we gonna get a mini-series of what the characters' lives are after II 18? Please? I would genuinely love that...

So, I went off on a tangent there... Anyways, I just wanted to say, more II content, please! I need answers...
