I HAD A STROKE OF GENIUS LAST NIGHT AND I MUST TELL YOU ALL ABOUT IT SO I DONT LOOSE IT
Alright, so I overheard my two roommates whom I detest having a conversation about pick up lines. One roommate was setting up a dating profile on tinder and wanted PICK UP LINES ( god help him ) from my other roommate. I had to keep myself from laughing out loud because; both of them ended up with the bad end of the gene pool ( I don’t like them so idgaf that this comes off as nasty ). And it gave me the idea for both a novel AND an OC: a satire / critique of modern dating but in the context of the past. I’ve been really inspired by Jane Austen lately and I’ve been wanting to write a novel ( working on one seems more realistic tbh ). The novel is about a young woman who is a matchmaker for unattractive men of the landed gentry class of England in the early 19th century. She helps them to catch eligible wives by helping them develop personas that will act as a foil to their shortcomings. Some of her methods include: portraits that make them seem more attractive, attending social gatherings with her clients and spreading rumors of their achievements, and other things. She’s sort of a personification of apps like Tinder and websites like Plenty of Fish where people can lie and create personas in order to get some nookie ( It sounded better in my head and I just woke up lmao. anyways!!! I might make the main character into an OC and develop her so I can get a good base for the novel!
