Abby tried to take everything in. Alie had wrecked so many lives with the City of Light. It was too much to even process all at once. All she could do was focus on what she could do. She was a doctor, and she could help with the injured. The selfish part of her wanted to stay right where she was-wrapped around Marcus-and focus on him. He needed her. That much had been evident when he had clung to her as tightly as he had. She turned her head slowly, pressing her mouth to his ear.

“Let me get my bag and take you somewhere more private. Your bandages need changed.” Guilt washed over her. If it hadn’t been for her, he wouldn’t have the wounds. Tears slipped down her cheeks. “We can get through this, Marcus.”

She had told him that they would see one another again. And they had. She just never imagined that the cost of getting them all to this point would be this high. She stood slowly and took his hand to lead him from the thrown room into one of the smaller, empty rooms.

my opinion on;

character in general:  Marcus Kane is my trash son okay? He’s the perfect example of flipping character development to the max. How I went from hating this man to adoring and wanting to protect him is a testament to how much his growth journey has touched me. I know he’s always wanted to do what was best for his people, but gosh darn it Marcus you were such a dick at the beginning. BUT I LOVE YOU ANYWAY <3how they play them:  um you are flawless? Like I love reading your replies, and since I’ve been stalking the 100 rp fandom far longer than I’ve been rping in it, I can say you are amazing at Marcus. the mun: you are amazing! You were super sweet and you put up with my Kabby trashiness and you like go along with my crazy af headcanons and even add to them. Like who else could I share that devil of an idea I had earlier and you tell me its awful yet perfect and then add to it. LIKE WHO ELSE IS GOING TO DO THAT WITH ME?

She’s staring rather intently at the wall, almost like she’s willing it to move. Obviously it’s not happening because staring at walls never gets them to move. But she’s avoiding going outside. The pitying looks haven’t stopped, even though it’s been three weeks now. At least when she had been five she hadn’t noticed, but now it was very noticeable, and it was irritating. Especially because people expected her to be all mopey and sad. They kept asking if she was okay, if she needed anything. 

The only people who were still treating her the same were the boys. But that was because they were boys. But of course she was glad for that predictability. They still hadn’t assigned her an “official guardian”, a part of her really wanted to ask Marcus’ mom, but she already did so much for her that she wasn’t sure if she wanted to add the burden to her. She closed her eyes for a moment, the complete and utter silence, well apart from the constant hum of the ark, was soothing. Then she heard it, the door opening. “If you’re another person here to say how sorry you are. You can go away”

She doesn’t release him, not right away. A part of her had been afraid that he would not want to touch her. After what she had done to him when she had been under ALIE’s influence. She resisted the urge to shudder at the memory, this was about comforting him. He needed her. She understood what he was going through, and she would be there for him. Even of the guilt in her own chest was very heavy.
