Starkiller base was shaping up to be a threat to the Republic like no other. Most systems were online, and it would be fully operational within the month. Now, it was facing its first test…but not at the hands of the enemy. It was the weather which threatened the newly built base. A nasty blizzard was expected within the next few days, one with the power to knock out systems base wide.
They had convened hastily at the bridge, squeezing around a small table who’s central display had access to all system computers. Emergency protocols were discussed, reviewed, and revised. Hux was at the head of the discussion, despite his less than cozy seat–pinned between a lieutenant and the last person anyone wanted present: Ren. The knight had wedged himself right at the end, beside a wall, and was obviously less than pleased to be included in the impromptu meeting. Accordingly, he was mostly silent through the ordeal.
Still, once the lesser officers had filed off, satisfied with the outcome, Hux remained seated. He was not leaving a single thing to chance. With the others gone, Kylo seemed more than willing to put in his word…infuriatingly sarcastic as it was. Hux could not say when his eyes had grown so heavy, but soon their bickering about some inane protocol slowed into incoherent rambling. The General could not remember falling sleep, as one hardly ever does. He certainly would not have willingly displayed such weakness. Especially when it involved laying his head upon Ren’s shoulder.
