5. what are their chief tension areas?
there isn’t a lot that makes him tense. physically, sure: when he’s chasing someone or in a high-pressure situation, his heart rate is going to rise and he’s going to have all the typical human reactions to those situations. but as far as mental/emotional tension goes? when someone he actually cares about is in danger ( i.e. john, molly, mrs. hudson, etc ); when he feels he isn’t grasping all of the evidence to its fullest extent, or when he has a feeling he might not solve a case in time / at all... i feel like those are the only things that bring him tension ( at least, as far as showing it outwardly goes, because he mostly internalises everything and prefers not to show weakness ). also mycroft. just, his existence.
4. do they have any verbal tics, trouble pronouncing words, etc?
i love this question!!! because i have a headcanon that as a child, sherlock had a lisp. the other kids in school made fun of him for it. his mind & the way he chose to carry himself was something he couldn’t change, but his speech was. so i think he went to speech therapy for a long time in order to get rid of it. the reason for this hc is that if you listen to ben talk, it sounds like he has a bit of a lisp at times, and during the stag night scene it came out a bit when sherlock was drunk. i think it adds interest to the character and shows that even though he ceases to care what people think about his intellect, when he was a child, it did affect him deeply. so yeah. sometimes he still has a few issues with his lisp but he has it mostly under control.
