Waiting Forever at Ike’s Place
Every weekend, I am asked to deliver food from Ike's Place to customers around the city. Even though this is San Francisco and I know to expect lines, it still shocks me how long people are willing to wait for a sandwich. I find it even more shocking that it can take an hour to make one of these sandwiches!
I don’t think I would mind the wait if the cashiers were nice and honest about how long it would take for the order to be ready. But it seems that the cashiers are trained to tell customers that it’s almost ready no matter the circumstance. The cashiers will tell you that they are "finishing up your order" and you will still wait another 30 minutes before you get it. I mean, really, is it marinating in there or something?
In any case, if you’re not a fan of waiting in line (but a huge fan of Ike’s Place), try to get to this place at any time other than Sunday afternoon and the lines should be significantly shorter. Better yet, order online and wait in the comfort of your underwear at home. Still, you can expect slower than normal service because of course it takes an hour to make a sandwich.
End of rant.
