today was honestly supposed to be a good day. hyeon supposes that it hasn’t gotten worse: only infinitely more stressful. the company of the girl is definitely one that he enjoys, but not necessarily “conversation” company; more like “being there” company, the kind that he can get by being in the same room and pretending that he’s not listening to her laugh with her friends (he noticed a long, long time ago that she has a very captivating laugh).
either way, he always finds himself in this predicament: tiptoeing around nayoung, trying to get as close as he can get without getting too close (read: her figuring out about this little “emotional” situation that manifested soon after heaven’s debut). he’ll drop a casual hello every now and again, or maybe work up the guts to ask her how she’s doing. he thinks he’s making a pretty good job out of being friendly without being obvious. he thinks, of course; and what he thinks versus what he actually looks like are two very, very different stories.
he’s not prepared for interaction with her, because for once, her presence isn’t at the front of his attention. no, he’s at one of the crystal practice rooms, working at getting that final piece of choreography perfect, so engrossed in his work that he doesn’t even hear her enter. when he finishes the number, though, he can spot a head of silky hair at the side of the building, looking as comb-able as it always does and he resists the urge to tuck a lock behind her ear.
“ahh! it’s you! i mean, it’s you, nayoung. how are you?”
