I made a very important picture of @fireiistarter.
⭐️ ONLY ONE, but much love for blueberrylongboyfriend. Wow, that's a long made up word.
When Ilan is not around, Lenneth writes him letters at a rate of about one per sennight. He actually even sends them! They’re never anything terribly important, but it’s the thought that counts, even if he can’t really send them anywhere but Ilan’s usual address, so sometimes he comes home to a box stuffed full of letters about basically nothing but it’s very sweet all the same.
Ilan and the Conjurer’s Guild
Ilan Faust clears his throat, take a seat and nervously drumming his fingers on his thigh.
"Hells, ah... Oh! Oh, I do have one that I do not mind going on about. A bit embarrassing, but it has quite the pleasant ending, actually. 'tis about the time I got kicked out of the Conjurer's Guild when I was thirteen."
"I exhibited great talent as child for thaumaturgy. The orphanage where I grew up was not long what I called home. I was taken as an apprentice by a elezen who recognized my brilliance." He pauses, wincing at the arrogance that just kind of slipped out. He coughs. "Ah, but I had a mind to learn many schools of magic, and so, at thirteen years of age, he took me to Gridania, where I set up to learn the ways of conjury." Ilan has to laugh. "I was gifted with healing but struggled with the offensive balance. Given my ego even at that age, I of course made excuses that the theory of conjury was for slow-minded imbeciles."
"Ah, but, as it was, I found myself often scolded or punished for being... what were the words..." The mage taps his chin in thought. "...ah, yes. Aggressively disruptive and argumentative. The final incident, as it was, happened when we were putting into practice our teachings to learn to work with the air. I called it a waste... and lit my instructor's hat aflame to prove that my way was better."
"As I said, I was a bit of a know-it-all and a brat when I was younger. Or... a season ago or so. Regardless, I moved on to other things and perpetuated my delusion that conjury was a useless school of magic for nearly 12 years. However, the truth of it was that I was angry for not being good at the offensive aspects of it. Still, I come from a long line of them on Mother's side of the family. At one point, I did much soul searching and found where the root of my disdain was. Since then I have taken to practicing in the Shroud with my uncle. He... is technically of the Guild but lives in the forest itself, maintaining little contact with them. As such I have become more humble and gotten much better. I am still not welcome in the Guild itself, but Uncle cares not for such things."
[[ @fireiistarter Thank you for the RP! ]]
"Talk to your sister. She's worried sick about you." @fireiistarter
Dear (Ilan),
Dear Brother,
I cannot say that I would not repeat the actions that effected you in the past. Everything I did, I did for the safety and sake of my family. That includes heeding Father’s orders as my superior.
I am, however, not so much a fool that I cannot be apologetic for my actions all the same. Therefore, I am sorry, brother. For everything that you have endured and for my hand in it. Perhaps someday we might talk about it.
Your brother,Cato
@fireiistarter‘s wonderful mage, Ilan~ I realised I hadn’t posted much of what I’ve been sketching these days. D:
