BTS, HYBE et al in 2022 - 2021 HYBE BRIEFING WITH THE COMMUNITY
At last year’s Briefing, HYBE (Then BigHit Entertainment), talked a lot about the upcoming music for the likes of BTS, TXT, SEVENTEEN etc, additional content, and developments for Weverse.
This year the focus was on additional artist content (comics/stories and games), Weverse & V Live merging, NFTs, HYBE America and the 2 new groups due to debut in 2022. The thing that was missing though was information on new music content and in-person experiences (i.e. tours). And what happened? Well ARMY went…
Then this happened
Then a shed load of speculation occurred, and that this obviously means BTS must enlisting in the military next year…
Never mind that HYBE didn’t release any info on music/tours coming from TXT or SEVENTEEN.
Or the fact that BTS have recently been talking about new music and on ‘In the Soop 2’ they explicitly talk about a new album and low and low & behold actually make music in the same too (Suga and JK).
Seriously though, some ARMY need to stop looking at things in isolation, just because HYBE (which is now a multinational conglomerate company) doesn't announce new music, mean that BTS et al are not going to make any music and not announce it. HYBE are just currently concentrating on things outside of music because these are newer revenue streams for them. However, they are probably going to announce music/tours differently.
To me the briefing was about big ideas and big reveals for HYBE, and next year, if they do enlist, I expect HYBE to make a big announcement about it at their next briefing because that will have an effect on their profits/bottom line.
To me announcements about new music and tours will be left to the individual entertainment companies of Belift, Pledis, Source and BigHit Music (in addition to HYBE Japan and America). Whilst, big developments outside of day to day music making that bring in new revenue streams, will be announced through HYBE.
So when will we find out about new music? I expect it to happen on 3rd of December as the last Los Angeles PTD on Stage concert. Why do I think that? Well because…
RM announced there will be an announcement at that concert
They are live steaming the same concert to all of the ARMY too
BTS have just signed a new distribution deal with Universal Music Group. Why would they do that if there is not going to be any music released by them, and they were enlisting?
They have started talking about making music (particular new music in Korean during PTD promotions)
They have shown us they are making music and explicitly mentioned then next album on In The Soop 2.
Jin doesn’t have to enlist until December 2022. That’s over a year away, and guess what, that’s more than enough time to release an album and tour (MOTS7 Tour was to be a 5 months tour).
Also, the next day they will be performing at the Jingle Ball on 4th Dec, where I’m sure they’ll be interviewed, and so can talk more about said album and tour not uncontrolled questions about enlistment.
So can we stop with the negativity and the baseless thoughts about enlistment until they actually announce the enlistment…
