So a couple of posts down I said white peoples lack intersectionality when it comes to having conversations about certain things.
A TikTok user under the name jegaysus said that white queers appropriating the hand over you mouth symbol( something many associate with the MMIW movement) is and I quote “ a queer to Indigenous community conversation”…
Like there’s not people who are both queer AND Indigenous.
And the LGBTQ+ community has a symbol. It’s the duct tape over your mouth.. you remember it right? No H8? No? The Kardashians cashed in in it
Like what? Y’all forgot your own movement? So you appropriated an Indigenous movement’s symbol. I mean it’s on brand seeing how white queers also appropriate black culture and call it gay slang.
White LGBTQ+ individuals are a part of the problem. But because they themselves are a part of a marginalized community, they can’t see what they’re doing is wrong.
