I’d love to hear anything you have to say about Ilia/Link(or Twilight) -Sky Floor
So I like to think that before the events of Twilight Princess, they were just beginning to like... test the waters. Poke the pontential romance with a stick. Spend more time together, make an awkward stab at a flirt every so often, etc. Brush shoulders, think about maybe holding hands and blushing--all that sweet stuff.
Then the Twilight comes. Ilia gets kidnapped. Link finds her but she's lost her memory. More stuff goes down. He and Ilia are a part for a long time. Midna happens, and by happens I mean reveals herself to not be an imp but is in fact a very tall very pretty very humanoid princess who then yeets herself home and smashes the mirror along the way. Link doesn't know what to think. He and Midna had a great friendship and a camaraderie, and he's blindsided by the fact of oh gosh she's hot but he only has about five seconds to think that before she's gone and he'll never see her again. There wasn't time for anything serious to form, but the ache of what-might-have-been and what Midna felt for him nags at him. He's confused.
But, Ilia is there now. Ilia, who was there for a large part of his adventures. Ilia, who has her own traumas and hurts she's working through. Ilia, who can somewhat understand.
And of course, I think that while Link sees Ordon as home and always will, he didn't return from his adventure unchanged. He's a hero. He likes helping people, and just because the Twilight is gone and Ganon is defeated doesn't mean there aren't monsters. That there aren't people in need of help. And while Ordon is home, the rest of Hyrule is home, too. So I think Link is somewhat restless--he goes on trips often, keeping the monster population down and helping people and things.
But I think he's not the only one who's restless. Ilia spent a long time integrating into the world outside Ordon. She made some really close friends--and I like to headcanon that after her experience wanting to help Ralis, maybe she wants to learn more about how to help and heal people. So she decides to go and study under Renado. And well, who's the perfect person to escort her? Link. He escorts her to Kakariko, and ferries messages and stuff back and forth between Kakariko and home, and what do you know it's funny how much time they begin to spend together--
and it isn't too long before they get married. They of course settle down in Link's tree house, but I think she will hereafter often accompany him on his trips, because she can heal people and work with him to help people. And, I think, eventually together they set up a business--they use Link's experience as a ranch hand to start up a horse ranch.
And, I'm personally convinced, their ranch will last the test of time. They also begin to set up the first stables, a branch of their ranch, and their line will be the ones who rebuild the stables after the calamity.
And, I like to think that they're the ancestors of BOTW Link, too.
wow i had a lot of thoughts i didn't realize I had this many
As for LU, I feel like a lot of this applies to LU as well. So yeah!
