Writing D&D character backstories
I’ve now written backstories that range from 3 to 19 pages (single-spaced) for more than ten characters, my own and others...
Is there a market for custom backstories? Ones written in first person, with details, names, drama, specific formative scenes, and cultural context?
Some of the characters I’ve written for: a 19 year-old kenku barbarian cast out by first one tribe then the other; a genderless shadow sorcerer incubated within their dead mother so there would be an heir to the kingdom; a cleric-bard who ruined a city as a show of devotion to his trickster god; a performer monk who let carnival fame go to his head and lost years to a bender and years more hiding from responsibility as consort to a controlling, wealthy mistress...
