Welcome back to another one of my crazy theories:

Alright so everybody is freaking out over the scene with the hats? You know the one I’m talking about. Everybody keeps thinking that Gilbert looks pissed or concerned because they think it’s Anne telling him that she is going to the dance with Charlie but what if that’s not the case?

What if she told him she doesn’t plan on going at all because she’s not going to be asked or she plans on going with Diana ? This leading to Gilbert being confused or upset that she thinks no one would ask her. It just seems to me that Anne wouldn’t say yes to Charlie or maybe he wouldn’t have asked her yet.

And another thing: if Diana doesn’t ask Jerry I may actually eat my own shoe
