Page 32. --- (No. 4 Police Court, at City Hall, Magistrate Prentice.) --- Because he has the chance of a job within a few days, John Smith had a sentence of 30 days in jail reduced to 10 days when he appeared before Magistrate Prentice on a charge of consuming liquor illegally.
P.C. Harris said he had seen Smith and William Auchincloss consuming a bottle of wine, which Smith had bought. Magistrate Prentice dismissed the charge against Aucincloss but imposed a fine of $10 or 30 days on Smith, then reduced it.
Charged with having liquor illegally, Victor Hortepan was fined $100 or three months and the liquor was confiscated.
