I know Present Mic is a cockatoo not a cockatiel but I saw this and all I could imagine was it in a leather jacket and shades.

My cockatiel learned to use “goodnight”! Or perhaps to him it means “go to bed”, since he also says it early in the morning when he thinks we shouldn’t be awake. Additionally, he seems a bit confused and also used it as “goodbye”, too?? Maybe it’s all “leaving the room for a long time” to him! But now one of my budgies ALSO picked it up, and he has apparently modified it to mean “shut up”. Now, any time we do something while they’re even a little settled down, we get a chorus of “goodnight”s. :|
That’s so impressive that your cockatiel uses words! Our cockatiels just kind of say squeaky gibberish when they aren’t whistling. I bet having a bunch of birds all saying “goodnight” to you is hilarious.
Ripley uses “goodnight” in a few different contexts, too, but mostly he seems to think it is What One Says when it is time to turn off the lights and leave the room and give Ripley his peace and quiet. We were so enamored when he first started saying “goodnight” back to us in the evening, and now it’s part of our routine and sometimes he’s the one to say it first. Especially if he feels as though we are overdue in initiating the bed time routine, he’ll very clearly say “it’s time for goodnight.”
Top five wattles!! :D
Oh this is fun.1. Ocellated Turkey. I mean you have gorgeously iridescent feathers on the rest of the bird, but blue skin and orange and pink caruncles AND a magnificent drooping snood? It’s almost too much. Sadly this photo doesn’t show the snood to its greatest glory since it’s on the other side of the beak but the rest of the display makes up for it.
2. Kokako. I mean a wattlebird has to feature somewhere, and personally, while I appreciate how outrageous the ocellated turkey is, sometimes you want elegantly understated, and the kokako has you covered there. Sleek grey feathers and deep blue wattles under the bill make a heck of a statement.
3. Southern Cassowary. The undisputed winner of “most intimidating wattles” as far as I’m concerned. I don’t want to meet these wattles in a dark alley. Or dark forest. Or anywhere without a fence between me and the wattles, to be quite honest.
4. Andean Condor. Check out the wingspan on these wattles. And unlike the cassowary, I feel like I’d love to chill in the presence of a condor. Also, I like the muted tones. It sends off much less of a “don’t fuck with me” vibe without reducing any of the magnificence.
5. Temminck’s Tragopan. I mean. Just look at it. It’s almost eyeburning in its magnificence. All the tragopans deserve recognition for their amazing achievements in fleshy face decorations, but Temminck’s just has a little extra something.

The original comics are VERY famous in France, but like they're packed with so many things, plots, and concepts that I can't figure out how they managed to put everything in one movie. Also Laureline is supposed to be a protagonist next to Valerian so I'm a bit salty about her not being in the movie's title.

I haven't seen it and don't necessarily plan on it, but apparently the title of the original comics has BOTH of their names but they were like "well we can't sell this if there's a female lead" and that kind forms all of my expectations for me right there
ahhh i see. i knew it was based on comics, but i didn’t know Laureline was originally supposed to be in the title as well. yikes. i actually did like her character, but MAN was she held back by how the narrative (of the movie) treated her. it was honestly just another stale “man harasses woman until she gives in” type of thing. :/
as far as content itself though, you could definitely tell there were a million background concepts that obviously couldn’t all be fit into one movie, which is understandable given it’s based on comics, so i don’t really have too much beef with that aspect. the plot they did choose to go with was interesting and brought up a lot of grey morals that could’ve been nice and sticky to delve through, but in the end fell kind of flat thanks to Valerian’s character and also how they just kind of “ehhhh ok we solved it yay” at the end (i’m still trying to be vague to avoid being spoilery, so sorry if that doesn’t make much sense haha).

yeaaaaah based on the trailers I wondered if the MCs would be the biggest weakness of the movie. well, I guess I'll see what I think when I get a chance :') thanks!
i’ll be interested to hear what you think after you see it!

Meanwhile in Norway - these tanks are emptier than some of the similar setups I’ve seen, but apparently cups aren’t a thing here?? I’m still a little suspicious that I’ll find out this is the exception and not the rule, though! (There were also many more bettas in tanks spread around the store, in with other fish and plants. The half-dozen budgies are also in a huge double-wide aviary cage!)
These are wonderful!! And the budgie set up sounds amazing too. I’m not all that surprised that Norway would treat their pets better, especially while still in the pet store. The US is really far behind when it comes to animal care standards in a lot of ways. I’ve spoken to quite a few people from other countries who never really understood our whole ‘don’t buy from chain pet stores!’ movement until the typical chain store was described/shown to them. I guess pet stores are just a lot more humane in other countries, which is great! I hope the US heads in that direction. I think we’re trying, we’re just doing it slowly.

Ugh, I'm starting to run into that sort of problem with Magic. I kind of wish I could play the online version instead since it does a lot of the number tracking itself, but it's windows-only. :p
Yep, this is one reason why I don’t play those kinds of card games. The frustration is real.
