This image is a huge reminder to me that nature is constantly surprising.
My eyes are horrible. Even with contacts. I had a retinal detachment and surgery to fix it a few years ago. My prescription is technically -13 in my left eye and -10.5 in the other. Left eye has a contact of -11.5 but sometimes -10 if it’s feeling overworked. Setting that up because when I’m out in the field things in a distance is not always super clear to see.
This little guy was with some friends, only about maybe 3 or 4 yards from me. I assumed he was your average sparrow. I could only see he was brownish. Decided to take the photo anyways because a good photo is still nice to have.
Lo and behold. Check out that bright colored yellow on his head!
He’s a White-Throated Sparrow - something I haven’t “met” before. I’m super proud of this image also because some of the time the images I take are blurry. When I got it home to upload I saw that it actually looked pretty great.
