I hate drawing cars. I don't like driving them much either. So I've been getting the bus into town, rather than using my car, which takes about 35 mins (yes @_mackie480 35 mins). I take something to read, usually small format graphic novels. This is new to me as reading on the bus used to give me the sicks. I finished #Nimona by @gingerhazing last week and it is amazing - everyone should go and read it. Anyway, I've only got massive hard cover beasts left now (The Gigantic Beard That Was Evil is next up) so they're house reads.Anyway, to the point. I've now moved on to my instructobooks that I buy a lot of but don't always read. Last week, I took John Paul Lowe's 'Foundations in Comic Book Art' and got really into the cube method he talks about near the start. For non-technical illustrators, like me, it's a perspective drawing method that you can use to draw anything at all. So when I had to draw a car for this panel, from this angle, I was getting cold sweats.🤤 I used the method and no reference pics and it took about 10 mins (that's the aesthetic I'm going for). For some of you, this car will look like an infant has drawn it. For me, an illustrator who avoids shiny and man made as much as possible in this job, MIND BLOWN. I just thought I'd share an honest account of one of my daily (well maybe monthly) insecurities and the irony of how ditching my own car has helped me draw an imaginary car at a horrible angle. 💪 Don't worry, I usually only post pictures rather than share my innermost deep thoughts like this one. 😂😂 #illustrator #illustration #illustratemylife #comics #graphicnovel #comicart #ilustracja #иллюстрация #иллюстратор #illustrazione #ilustrasyon #απεικόνιση #independentartist #freelanceartist #creative #drawsomething #childrensillustration #childrensbook #childrensillustrator #picturebook #illo #magic_of_illustrations #childrensart #illustrationnow #womenwhodraw #creativelife (at Liverpool) https://www.instagram.com/p/BykK-FDHliQ/?igshid=14e34fypdnp1r
