Ch191 (p4), Who's room is it really?
We might have a case of Yana-san accidentally switching the rooms for Lord Canopus and Lord Vega. In fact, I now truly believe this. I'll continue the chapter for a bit and then explain further, down below.
So, in part three, Ronald snaps his fingers. Here, we see that summons his lawnmower death scythe. And he says stuff about overtime again (as if he's been brainwashed to repeat it!) "As I'm against overtime as a rule." Seriously. Conditioned much, Ronald?
Al says it's been a while, and she wants to have some fun. Side note: the name is quite possibly short for Alyal, which means pretty much the same thing in Arabic as Layla: dark or night. But like... kinda even darker? And that makes perfect sense here. Ahh, who was it that brought up Alyal to me a month or two ago? I can't find the posts about it. 😭 But major kudos!! (Tell me who you are; it might help me find the posts.)
But Ronald is expecting to destroy her and her scissor blades almost immediately.
Yeah. Not so fast. At least one scissor blade is striking those death scythe blades, and neither is taking any damage. That's got Ronald shook.
They back away, and Al goes in for another hit. Ronald is still really confused until he pauses to reflect.
Undertaker pointed out before that two death scythes make null and void the idea that a death scythe can cut through anything. According to Ronald, only grim reapers can carry a death scythe. Um... then how did Sebastian carry Grelle's chainsaw death scythe about a year before? I have to assume he means more long-term than confiscating one from a reaper during a fight. But Ronald seriously doesn't know how this pair of scissors came to be, so I guess they don't usually carry scissors around as part of their reaping gear.
Ronald shouldn't have taken his eyes off her.
But!!! "What will you do... at this juncture!?"
That's what "Lord Vega" says here:
Or is it? There are also three stars shown on the door for the very nicely appointed room when Sebastian investigates Sphere Music Hall.
This always struck me as very odd. Years ago, when ch117 was released, I asked whether the stars got switched on the rooms for Vega and Canopus. Because Vega's room, as shown, looks like it matches better with Canopus' personality (according to blood type personality charts). But there wasn't much I could say about it... beyond wondering aloud if the rooms got switched in the illustrations.
Even more recently, after ch151, I wondered why on Earth Lord Vega would be sent out to collect blood for real Ciel, when their room suggests their status is too high for acting like a servant. Again... what if those rooms were drawn with the wrong stars, earlier?
Now, I think I was right about that. Because Ada confirms that Baldo and Lau both have Canopus blood, and Layla seems to recognize the taste of her own blood type (which is seriously disturbing). But, Layla/Al is someone with a split personality and quotes what "Lord Vega" said before.
So, here's what I think: Layla/Al is Lord Canopus. And Lord Canopus is the one who has that nicely appointed bedroom at Sphere Music Hall... not Lord Vega. Yana-san (or one of her art assistants) accidentally gave Lord Vega's room (the door) two stars and Lord Canopus' room (the door) three stars. In ch117 and again in ch123. But verywhere else, the stars were right.
So, all this time, Lord Canopus is possibly the one who might have been twins but turns out to be one person with a split personality. Well, that's good for Bluer; at least his little twin sisters aren't lords of the stars!
Let's see if I'm right about it....
