I think some people need a reminder of this, mainly the E/riels who think along these things as they've been misconstrued or given wrong info:

GWYNETH BERDARA being a part of the Illyrian plot in a Gwynriel book WITH AZRIEL does NOT equal she will be a white savior of the Illyrians. No Gwynriel has ever implied or said she would save them.

Gwyn was part of an Illyrian tradition, the Blood Rite, though. She became Carynthian as she reached the top of Ramiel. Sarah connected her to the Illyrian plotline whether people want to like it or not as she was ONE of the females to gain an Illyrian title. Something never done before as females weren't allowed to participate.

Let me reiterate so it gets through people heads.....

GWYN WILL NOT BE A SAVIOR TO THEM, BUT SHE IS CONNECTED TO THE PLOTLINE THROUGH HER ACHIEVEMENTS, AZRIEL, AND EMERIE WHO ALSO WON.

The Illyrian plotline will be dealt mainly through Azriel, and more than likely Emerie will play a part to depending on how big a role Sarah has her play given she's an Illyrian female, and Gwyn will be a big part for both of these people.

Gwyn isn't going anywhere. She's connected to the plot and two people within said plotline. If you don't like it, take it up with Sarah & you'll just have to deal with it.

I Love your posts because they are like a science paper. there is one thing i don't understand, G/A fans they talk about a possible plot on the "book of az" that there is a revolution in ilirya and a mole in NC but I don't know where in the books that appears.Also if there is a mole wouldn't it even be counterproductive for them?I mean, in NC information is never leaked, only until Nesta includes different characters is this happening.I'd like to know what you think, thanks

This could be a little long

So for that illyrian plot. The thing mentioned in acofas was literally dealt off page when Kallon died in blood rite before book started.

Kallon was the one causing troubles and he died at blood rite. And Illyrians stopped their grumbling. And after that Cassian is taking care of them.

They are at peace with their constant training.

The only problem was females training. They were having troubles about that but with the Valkyries winning the blood rite it is shown that females can be good as males.

Some of the G stans take the following ss as Illyrians will throw a fit but like...they(more like briallyn) threw the Valkyries into the blood rite and they won. It is a done deal. And they were already training females this is just grumbling and for how illyrians didn’t like females training already. It is not a foreshadowing for illyrians rebelling. It is just to show their dislike for females training but now they have to because valkyries won the BR.

Also we have bigger things to deal with than an illyrian plot you know? This literally spells out what is gonna happen in the next books 👇🏻

Like Koschei, the queens, the looming war, the crossover, asteri/daglan from cc... we are not going to illyria. It is dealt off page and that’s it.

Also why would gwyn be in illyrian plot?

Illyrians don’t like outsiders especially High Fae... and last I looked gwyn was 3/4 high fae. Also gwyn getting into that plot would be white savior so I’m not even getting into that.

What are they gonna do in illyria? Reform? When there is koschei, queen and a war? And in the ss it literally says change takes longer in illyria. We don’t have the time. We have bigger things to care.

Also out of all the characters azriel dealing with illyria’s problems? If anyone was going to deal with it would be cassian. If you look at the screenshot right above you can see that nesta asks why he bothers with illyrians and he says he wants to prove his worth...whereas azriel 👇🏻

It is literally spelled out in this ss. He would sooner disband and destroy illyria than help it. Azriel hates illyrians and in the blue highlighted parts you can see that the guy is BUSY. He is the spy master. He can’t just stop his spy work to go “heal” illyria when we have koschei, the queens, the war, beron wanting power, daglan/asteri to deal with. He is just not going to stop his work to go deal with illyrian and as I said Sarah dealed with illyrian plot off page. There is nothing other than training for them and get ready for the war. That’s literally it.

One of the reasons I know Elriel’s book is going to be next is because Gwynriel’s legit think the plot of the Az and Gwyn book will take them to Illyria. Like what business do Az and Gwyn have in Illyria???? There was zero set up for the plot to go there, Az HATES them, and Gwyn has zero connection outside of doing the BR and even she says she’d rather just be a Valkyrie. Like their ideas about where the two of them would take the plot of the book is borderline comical.

Well, it's because 'they' know that unless they send them somewhere on some wild goose chase, there is no connection for either of them to the overarching plot. Maybe Azriel, to some extent, since he is all mysterious and shadowy, but Gwyn?

Firstly, 'dealing' with Illyria is the responsibility of its High Lords--Rhys and Feyre. These are the people who fight on behalf of Rhys, under his banner and he governs that territory. It's his responsibility to govern it well and deal with its problems, and not just the clipping of females. Since Cassian is their Commander General and they fight under him, and he feels passionate about the cause, then maybe he would be an appropriate emissary to the land.

Secondly, Azriel? Azriel is like a 3rd banana in this equation. He has no affinity towards the people, towards the land, he turned away 500 years ago and never went back. He doesn't technically command them either. Okay, he is a very powerful Illyrian, but it's not responsibility to deal with issues that aren't his concern and that Rhys doesn't want to deal with. He is the spymaster. He oversees the CIA/FBI. He is just gonna drop everything and what? What is going to do? Who is going to take over for him? And then he brings Gwynnie the Pooh with him? Because she is EXACTLY what they need? A High Fae, non-Illyrian girl who has no dealings with Illyria and who didn't even bother with accepting/acknowledging their highest honor, which is being a Carynthian. So basically we are sending an American girl from California with no discernable talents to change the brown people? cool. That's an EXCELLENT storyline.

Also, this notion that Azriel needs to 'deal with his past' and confront it and all that bullshit is extremely offensive. His feelings are his feelings for his heritage and that's it. No one tells abused men and women and children, who were lucky enough to leave their abusers, to go back and deal with them and with their 'feelings'. You walk away. You cut the ties and you move on with your life. At least if he was seeking that reconciliation himself, like Cassian, then fine. But he isn't. And he shouldn't be forced to. And it shouldn't be expected of him.

The plotline was dropped even for Cassian, who had the most ties with Illyria, and half of ACOSAF was about that. It's not being revived for Azriel.

The more I think about it the more it makes sense. The Illyrians want to be ruled by themselves, not by a high lord who was imposed on them, who they didn't choose. Because that's literally the reason why they would reveal themselves and fight against him, freedom. They want their territory (including their culture) to be out of Rhys's authority. They've been forced to fight for him whenever he needs to and without having the chance to contradict his actions or else they're dead. Tbh I want them to have their own leader, I agree with that. Someone who is 100% Illyrian not half-Illyrian. If they ask for their freedom, who is Rhysand to force them to kneel? Why isn't he recruiting his own army, people from Velaris, from the night court in general? He wants an army, well then make one. Call your people to join you, why do the Illyrians have to be the ones to sacrifice themselves for a city, a court that isn't their home? I understand they went to war because Hybern was right there and wanted to invade Prythian but now things have changed, and maybe, a civil war might be on its way.

Actually, I wouldn't mind if Emerie wants to fight for her people, but I think Koschei wants to put them against Rhysand, who is the biggest obstacle in his plans.

YES. And I do not blame the Illyrians for wanting to be an autonomous political entity, not one bit. (My secret hope for the whole series is to smash the High Lord political structure, redistribute the Cauldron/Mother-given powers equally amongst all the fae, redistribute the wealth, get over the High Fae/lesser fae hierarchy. Acotar socialist AU and I know I'll never get it.)

Right now the Night Court is using them as cannon fodder and it's kinda gross? But you know what. It does kinda mirror how POC could be used as underpaid, abused labor irl. I digress.

For real, the High Fae, if they are so freaking powerful and great, they should fight their own battles. Not put lesser fae in the line of fire to protect their darling High Lordship. (What kind of government is Prythian, anyway? I don't know enough.)

I would love for the Illyrians to rebel against the Night Court because they deserve to. Leaving aside the fact that they are problematic as hell, they still don't deserve to be treated the way that they are. And I don't blame them for their discontent.

Rhys probably will want to use the Illyrians against Koschei, but that is going to be super, super tricky when some of them allied with him, even if it was unintentional. 😬 This just isn't going to go away.

Yes! I've felt the same way and I agree with you that the Illyrian plot is just as important as everything else going on. Azriel and 2/3 of the Valkyries are tied to the Illyrians. Gwyn and Emerie winning in the rite will no doubt cause more unrest and uproar for the Illyrians given they are the first women to compete and win. They also all three hold the Illyrian title: Carynthian. & The Illyrian plot line WILL NEED TO BE DEALT WITH BEFORE GOING INTO WAR. You don't want a BIG PART of your army revolting during said war. You want an army you can count on before it comes to pass. Rhysand will NEED them ALL in the war for the Night Court. Azriel, Gwyn, and Emerie, along with Nesta, Cassian, and Mor will be part of that Illyrian plot line and will be part of the bigger war as well. Mark my words on that.

Last thing I'm gonna say about this subject...

If you have an issue with the Illyrian Pelvis/Winged Baby, take it up with Sarah! She was the one who wrote the issue the way she did. She was the one who wrote Gwyn saying:

“My bones are slightly more pliant than ordinary High Fae’s, but who cares about that?”

In a book where Feyre literally was on Death's door because of Nyx having wings - which is an INCREDIBLY traumatic birth scene to include given those who have given birth and almost did not make it....but who is raising a fuss about that?

Don't get pissed at us readers who clued in to the little hints left behind BY SARAH.

Get pissed at Sarah for writing a problematic storyline 👍

Lol there are really people out there that think SJM is going to put a pause of Koschei next book, focus on Illyria, and then pick back up on Koschei in the final book. That doesn’t even make sense. And we KNOW for a fact that these books share an overarching plot. SJM isn’t going to stop her story so that Az and Gwyn can go frolic around Illyria for whatever reason and then pick back up with the plot for an Elucien book. How can they not see how desperate they are to make a gwynriel book work

I think that the example that is often brought forth is Chaol's book. Look! Chaol got a whole book and it took him out of the rest of the books and there was no Aelin in it at all.

The difference is that Chaol was set up prior to all of this happening. Chaol was wounded and paralyzed. Chaol was sent by Aelin/Dorian specifically to get himself healed. Before the end of the book, Chaol was put on a ship and sailed with Nesryn. His story was not a surprise out of left field. And of course the person that we needed to meet is Yrene! She was the most important element, since she eventually (did what she did, avoiding spoilers here).

With this whole nonsense about Illyria.

There is less than zero set up!

Why, in the blasting hell, would Azriel, of all people, who has a super important position as spymaster (the only WORKING member of the IC, it seems), go to Illyria? Why, in the more of a blasting hell, would Gwyn be there with him? Even if she decided to leave the Library (to live where, I am not sure, and do what, I am not sure either, but okay), why, of all places would she be in Illyria? Not in Velaris, with the only people she knows in her life (the priestesses, Emerie and Nesta, Cassian and Azriel), but in Illyria?

The thing is, let's say Gwyn is just that important to the story, to the demise of Koschei (because that IS still the story)--she'd already be set up as someone who is capable of either some super special powers, or some other connection. Because even with Chaol and Yrene, her powers were established right away, she was a healer, and everything stemmed from that.

What exactly are Gwyn's special powers? The mere mention of Lightsinging (without any negative connotations) causes a riot. So, there are no powers, other than glowing when she sings. Is she going to charm the Illyrians with friendship bracelets? The Illyrians still have to be connected to Koschei in some manner. Is there a hint of that? I mean, is there any hint at all that Azriel would be going to Illyria? Did Rhys mention it? Did Rhys mention Illyria at all? Nope.

I really want to put the Illyrian plot to bed forever.
