In case that you dont know: @staff made a post in @changes about bringing the horrible face/ID age verification system that multiple companies have alredy force into UK and Brasil because of their new policies into said countries. This changes are horrible for multiple reasones, including that this methods have been proved faulty across multiple platforms and that security breaches have alredy been made in apps with this verification method like Discord.
Tumblr was one of the few socials where this change hadnt been made for Brasil and the UK, and I cant imagine how horrible it must be to having to go through this again and, in many cases, being forced to leave the platform, im incredible sad for my fellow users in Brasil and Britain and furious at @staff for choosing to do this change
Because of the public outrage, @carn3lian-claws has set a blackout for the 16th of may, details of the amount of days are being figured out and shared in the tumblr union discord server (linked below) that is used to coordinate and inform people about any ongoing blackout, as well as to serve as a place to entretainnyourself during the blackout
We gather in the great tumblr outage, that we caused, because we hate the new thing | 251 miembros
I personally advice using #BlackoutMay16th to complain about the change, both to spread the blackout and so @tumblr is forced to recognise what the outcry is abt
