Final Day in Delhi

I woke up surprisingly easily to have a shower and then had breakfast on the rooftop terrace. Considering it was breakfast I opted out of the curry option and went for good ol' toast and jam. I sat down with some of the tour people and started to get to know eachother. We met at the reception after breakfast and we then travelled to the middle of New Delhi and after walking through small alley ways we entered the planeterra orphanage. This organisation took children from the streets of New Delhi and back into permanent shelter and education. Despite little understanding of English the children were more than excited to play with my gopro and interact with all the tour members. We then travelled to the largest mosque in New Delhi. The building was beautiful, we had an excellent time drifting through the mosque looking at the scale of it all. Also it was hilarious how a small girl outsmarted pitman into giving her money Then we visited a Sikh temple. Travelling to this temple was a nightmare, roads were closed so traffic was awful and I took us over an hour to get there (not that I minded, I just dosed off and had a nap) The Sikh temple has been one of the highlights so far, not because of the complexity of the building but the underlying values of kindness and generosity surrounding the temple. Everyday the temple opens its doors to hungry civilians, regardless of religion or wealth and cooks an enormous banquet of food for the people (all provided by volunteers) We roamed round the cafeteria until an elderly lady pointed at me and asked me to join her rolling pitta breads for the meal. I jumped at the chance and she was the most lovely lady ever. Suddenly all of the tour members pitched in to help and we all gathered the warm community ideals of the Sikh temple and it was very special. After we were very hungry so we travelled to Connaught place to go to a restaurant. Pitman and I went with three others to find a restaurant but failed miserably in finding a traditional Indianan restaurant until we got a tuc tuc to be other end of the roundabout to a place called Indian Grill. We were treated like kings. We had a 4 course meal of amazing food and free lemonade, each paying about £7, wasn't bad at all, plus I got to become more comfortable around other members of the tour, oil, corrina, and cieran (Welsh). After our feast we got back to our hotel just after heavy rain started to fall which was very odd considering it was still like 29 degrees. In the evening we just chilled on the roof until we met up in the lobby at 10:30 to get the sleeper train. Hectic at first because of the very limited space however once everyone sorted out their own bed it was great. I fell asleep straight away. There's something about sleeping while moving in a vehicle sends me straight to sleep (slightly reminiscent of my school bus days) Anyway, I had a great sleep. Pitman didn't, lol.
