It was odd, to say the least: the feeling the man had given her - it was one she could not quite pinpoint: was it sheer curiosity? Perhaps it was his profession? Or might it have been the behavior of his, despite knowing what she was capable of? ( She would not know of his true self, as it was as tightly sealed off as her own. ) Whatever the reason was, it mattered not as she felt drawn to the one called [ Bookman Junior ]. Their arrival had pleased her greatly as she had found herself a new companion ( was he, really? ), another one who sought knowledge just like herself ( but not quite, as it was his task to record history and war ) and they would oftentimes find company in the other to puzzle over the wonders of the world ( along with the cruelty it harbored ). And he was the biggest mystery she had to solve yet ( a man of many facades; a mask she has yet to crack ).
And tonight was one of many as the ninth found the man in the vast library of the Kamelots’ with just a dim candle light at the corner of where he was seated, with piles and piles of books surrounding him and another one in his hands. It was a place where Road would find him frequently, especially on nights he had something on his mind ( he would not let others know as it was not in his place to show his true feelings ) and it was in those nights that their conversation turned out to be the most interesting.
“You’re up late, Allen.”, her voice was soft as she slowly approached the man before coming to a halt in front of the mountain of books and a brief glance was all it took for her to surmise what had occupied him on that particular night. “You seem troubled - do you mind some company?”
