This is the end of chapter 13 of ILYL. Where Crowpaw comforts Feathertail after Stormfur is taken prisoner by the Tribe of Rushing Water. And hearing the unspoken affection Feather has for the apprentice, and not wanting to get in the way of her friend’s happiness, Squirrelpaw keeps quiet and tries to give the two the time to blossom into something more, setting aside her own feelings for a certain Tom in the process.
It’s harder than she thought.

What would be squirrelflight's thoughts on bristlefrost falling in love with a cat outside her clan?
I’m going to assume you’re asking this in the context of ILYL.
Well, by this point, Crow and Squirrel have been together for moons and will have had two litters together. So by the time Bristle falls for Root I imagine that half clan relationships are more common and less hostilely thought of. Squirrel would clearly be one of the most supportive cats though. Bristle would ask her about the fears and anxieties that came with such a relationship and Squirrel would console her:
“Cats tried many times to tell me how I should control my heart. They never succeeded in stopping me. No cat can tell you how to feel apart from yourself, Bristle. You tell me what you want.”
