It was supposed to be a simple plan: make the prince fall in love with her, and then use him to retrieve the Fairy Godmother’s wand for her mother. So, if it was all truly that straightforward, why did she feel such affection toward him? What were the complicated emotions twisting in her stomach? When did everything change? Her mother was waiting for her on the Isle of the Lost, and feelings were not supposed to happen between them. But there she was, in the middle of an Enchanted Lake spending time with Prince Niklaus after she slipped him that love potion. 

Fuck. 

A million conflicting sensations run through her as he gives her a look full of softness and what might be trust. For that singular moment, Caroline allows herself to get lost in his bright smile and curious eyes. Was there any chance this could be genuine?
