That is true. Looking at the dangers list, I'm kinda having second thoughts about my project idea...

With that said, I do have a friend that works with resin regularly. I'll consult with them before moving forward. If it's not worth it, I'll probably find some other way to incorporate my old WMATA Smartrip Card into a project.
