I also love how the whole episode has that threat of the violence waiting around the corner hanging over it….. will ross kick off in the pub? no… is cain, stopped in his tracks from hurting sam, going to go after robert like he threatens? not yet at least…. and then in the end the violence around the corner comes, of course, from john. robert says he doesn’t want to be back in prison always afraid of the violence waiting around the corner and john says there will always be violence waiting around the corner in this very village. and robert — who, yes, has reason to hate john specifically, but who has also been barely sleeping from post-prison hypervigilance — attacks john back, the same way he attacked lee, which is how he ended up in prison in the first place — so maybe there’s violence always waiting around the corner in robert, himself, too; maybe the violence really is inescapable.
