my theory on the whole blade situation is that blade is just really hard to write in the way that hoyo needs their characters to be.
he's frequently and unexpectedly has magical mania/psychosis/ptsd attacks, he has severe memory issues, he needs to be consensually brainwashed to remain functional, he's depressed and wants to die, he has very weird relationship with his own personhood. that's all fine and okay when he's a somewhat secondary character in XL arc who plays a "villain-but-not-really" role. but when you need him to be a greater and more driving presence in the story while showing him from a different side to justify selling a new sp? while making him as appealing as possible to players/buyers? well, suddenly he doesn't look so easy to manage.
like I don't think it's impossible to write him in a way that would accomplish hoyo's goals while keeping him true to himself, it's just significantly harder. the writers would need to sit and think about it. it would be more expensive. and a company this rich is never going to spend more money on production than what they believe is necessary.
it's not even that I find the idea of blade cooking or looking out for silver wolf implausible or ooc, but, c'mon, really? that's the main push of his drip marketing? fanservice? really? to me this all just looks like an admission of "we wrote ourselves into a corner with this character, and now don't know what to do with him!!"
this is making me so scared for kafka... please hoyo don't massacre my woman...
well someone needs to kill everyone and hire writers who know how to write my man before you see me on the news
