my cheeks stretch so far they ache, my jaw throbs, and my heart beats so fast it feels like my sternum is going to shatter into millions of tiny pieces and fly away like butterflies, their wings made of marrow and antenna of tiny capillaries. love is strong in a way other emotions cannot be, like the joy that hides in the darkest parts of my body is being torn out and stretched until it nearly breaks. it's blanketed in the open air and shared with the world around me before it melts away, leaving nothing behind besides the tune of my favorite song.
