Hey! I read your fics surrounding Wasterra and I’m curious about Charlie specifically. Especially surrounding his relationship with his father and his siblings. From what I got the fics is that his mom passed away when he was young and then he was sent to live with his dad. What’s his relationship like with them? Why is he constantly so on edge around Russel? Especially surrounding expressing himself. Is there a reason or is it just how Charlie is as a person? Or is it a pink pony club situation?

hello santa anon thank you for reading abt my silly little guys and wanting to know more, i love yapping abt them 🥰

charlie’s birth parent (i may have said mom at some point, rn i’m leaning more towards dad lmao i’m not great w continuity across my fics-my toxic trait frfr 😔) did pass when charlie was young, and russell adopted him. i go back and forth on whether or not i want them biologically related at all, but if so its a distant relation.

they really just happened to find each other one day-charlie’s parent passed from illness and charlie was a hungry kid who was going to go find food since his parent wasn’t getting up, and well, he found russell’s house instead.

as far as their relationship, it’s definitely interesting! they have a lot of similarities, both driven by an intense need to save whoever they can, and this definitely leads to some arguments-they can get under each other’s skin like nobody’s business. there’s also always going to be a part of russell that looks at charlie and sees him as the little kid he needed to protect, and that causes some friction as charlie gets older. as far as charlie’s self-expression, i think ultimately russell just wants his baby to be happy. the town isn’t entirely accepting of people like charlie, and charlie doesn’t exactly know how to put the words as to who they are, so they’ve definitely got a lot of anxiety on trying to express it to their pa.

sibling relationships! charlie and kimby are about two years apart, prime sibling argument age gap and they will SQUABBLE. she definitely had a harder time adjusting to not being the baby of the family anymore but she grows to love charlie dearly and being his big sister is one of her favorite things :). my favorite hc for them is that charlie was the first to call her kimby and that’s why she chose it as her showdown name!

charlie and teddy are about four years apart and have a bit of a different dynamic-teddy’s a very type a, serious sort who can forget that it’s okay to just let loose and be a kid sometimes. charlie tries to remind him where he can, in that annoying little brother sorta way, but it works :). and on the flip side, teddy’s one of few people who doesn’t underestimate how tough charlie can be. they’ve been shaped by being the oldest and youngest in different ways, but they look out for each other :)

i do love your idea for them though-that would be SUCH an interesting familial dynamic to explore 💥

all in all, they aren’t perfect but they love each other very much!
