i think one thing i find really compelling about mulder and scully is how they literally go from a platonic relationship, to a sexual relationship and then PARENTHOOD in like really quick succession and if you look at the grand picture of their relationship then the majority is in the latter category and to me it never feels weird that they so smoothy go from one thing to another whereas i think most other ships you have like a moment that marks the before and after but with them that doesn't super exist imo and i kinda love it bc it showcases how their relationship doesn't adhere to what a conventional romantic relationship does. they're really secret third thing it's crazy.
