I was experimenting with the texture that charcoal would produce, when drawn over patches of oil on paper and with a crochet material laced underneath to create textured surface, bathing areas of charcoal and producing the ‘dotted’ mark making. as well as this, I experimented and played around with abstract flowing shapes in ink and pencil, trying to illustrate the lyrics “And the hands on all my shoulders don't have names, And they won't go away” through abstract mark making.

I carried on this depiction of the lyric through collage, and adding tracing paper initially as prevention of the charcoal smudging but later became another device, adding a foggy layer to the imagery-bringing more ‘atmosphere’ in my opinion.
