His normal form tail design (kid and adult) is supposed to be these things

like just a BUNCH of them woven together. It’s actually pretty flat and ribbon like until the tip

Also reminiscent of a rattle snake though that’s a little hard to see lol

his GK tail is a 2 pronged scorpion tail..

He’s always been, in terms of human standards, gender neutral at birth (when he was created). His gender how he expresses it in the show is already his chosen gender. The only difference is that in Fionna and Cake, he learns how to handle it in a way that makes him more happy! Less binary male and more whatever the heck he feels like.

WIP I’m never gonna finish :/

Started this a WHILE ago but school hit hard and so to the bottom of my files it went..

The idea for this was because they’re both snakes to me (Serperior more literally than the GK but the GK definitely has some associations), both are regal as heck (GK is, well, a knight, and serperior is literally called “the regal Pokémon”), and both are grassy lol

they’re also both my favorite grassy things :3

FC Fern sheet…

Was gone ALL day today sorry moots. Will continue to be gone for a while… (today was mostly just because I binged all of Haunted Hotel for the first time. Abbadon………………)

Anyways here’s my thingy. My creature

Design stuff under cut, as always!

Ok so first off MAJOR pallet change. Fern actually has saturation variety. Mostly just on his clothes though- his skin and hair didn’t really change (it’s actually, i believe, the same from his AT color!)

Second: HE FINALLY GREW INTO HIS LIMBS LMAO!! So with the way i draw AT Fern, his limbs are really long but stumpy (like a tree lol). But as an adult, i don’t think they get any bigger and he just grows into them (well his limbs get longer but other than that). Like an ouppy with big paws who gets Normal Sized paws compared to their body as an adult… (His hands/feet did grow in size a little ofc but not at the same rate as the rest of him- hence why it was able to even out. Its hands are HUGE)

This thing is so fluffy to me. Ok so i know a lot of people have very varying opinions on his chest, but i honestly just really like the idea of him having “fluff” on his chest that’s just real thick. Put that on top of large pecks (would be needed for the amount of muscle needed to pilot such Long arms and climb around like crazy) and Yeah big chest. Also just really fun to me because I always draw AT fern with a prominent chest tuft so it’s fun to think that it just Got Bigger. Also matches with the prominent chest fluff that dogs have (usually). He’s a big dog to me if you couldn’t tell. They also have tufts on the knees, hands, and elbows! The knees and elbows are just because I think, like his chest tuft, the already fluffed out grass just gets Bigger and turns yellow with age. Also it reminds me of a tarantula lol. His hands are because it matches his feet. Given that i draw his hands differently from the show to match his feet (like actual animals because almost 0 animals i can think of have varying digits between the front and back limbs), it just made sense to have this match too. Again, also tarantula like (reminds me of how they have fluff covering their “claws” [which also happen to come in pairs like his fingers!])

love that he looks like slenderman a bit. Long arms long legs. Long neck too for some reason lmao (i didn’t even change that at all his neck is literally just Like That). It really makes him look like some sort of forest creature wild man thing- probably what they were trying to go for originally. This is also nicely paired with how I specifically draw him with a short torso- making his limbs look HUGE. I’ve always done this because A: it makes him look more uncanny and B: makes him look more spidery. Love that this applies even more with his adult design. Daddy longlegs over here

Also Clothing details! I added breast pockets to the jacket under the frill things, and also added “extension” lines. I think that Fern always knew how to Kind Of sew (because it inherited Finn’s muscle memory and memories of doing it) so after being thrown into a survival situation for a decade, i think he’d learn to do it amazingly. Given this, i think it’s safe to say that he modified the clothes he wears to fit him better (hence the extension on the pants and jacket). Funnily enough, the jacket and shirt are both Intended to be cropped. But because of ferns freakish build, it fits his torso completely. Lucy find for something scavenged! Well, lucky minus the sleeves of the jacket- that had to be fixed.
