Photoshop: How to make a transparent background with images

Note: My Photoshop is in Spanish, but I've translated it

You can do this with any CS version, but I use Photoshop CS5

Step 1. Open your photo by clicking file>open

Step 2. Now go to the ''layer box''(usually at the right side of the page) and right click, then click ''duplicate layer''

Step 3. Do you see the eye at the left side of the layer?? The eye indicates the visibility of the layer, now you have to deselect the eye of the first layer

Step 4. Click ''Quick selection tool''

and put the cursor in the photo after you clicking on the photo there should be like a ''running ants'' appearing in your image like this

Step 5. Find the eraser tool

and put the cursor in the photo, now it should be like this

Note: Is easier to do this if the image doesn't have objects but you can still do it

I choose this photo to show you that is possible to do it, but you have to be patient

Step 6. Click the Quick selection tool again

right click > deselect

Now it should be like this

Step 7. File> Save as> PGN file

Make sure to save it as a PGN file, because if you don't do this, the background won't be transparent.

Images in Words (adobe photoshop)

How to put images in words using Adobe Photoshop

Step 1: Open your file.

Step 2: Duplicate the layer of the original file.

Step 3: Create a new layer.

Step 4: Fill in the layer with a solid color. (i use WHITE almost all the time.)

Step 5: Double click the background copy (it's the duplicated layer.). That's where you should type your codes.

Step 6: Click ANYWHERE then hit CTRL+T for text transform. Spread your text around your image.

Step 7: Drag the duplicated layer (bg copy) so that it will be on top of the text layer.

Step 8: Hit CTRL+G and you`re done.

How to Image Map

Open your image on Imageready.

Then do this:

When done, Go to File» Save Optimized As…» Type the filename then the Save as type will beHTML Only (*.html)

To open imageready, on your photoshop go to File» Edit in Imageready (or simply press Shift+Ctrl+M)

HOW TO CHANGE THE BACKGROUND'S COLOUR ON A GRAPHIC.

This tutorial is about how to change this:

My Photoshop CS5 is in Spanish, but I’ll tell you the steps in English.

Open the file you want to edit. Go to File(Archivo)> Open(Abrir)

Select the file you want to edit and click Open(Abrir):

Okay, now it will appear the file you want to edit, in my case the Taylor’s pic. Now I’m gonna change the picture’s size. Go to Image(Imagen)> Image’s size.

If you want to edit be quality ALWAYS put 500 on the width(Anchura) space. The height (Altura) doesn’t matter. Be sure you have clicked the box that is red on my screencap:

Now click on the tool “Magic Wand” (Varita mágica) which is in the toolbar.

6. Now using this tool, click on the space you want to the change the color. In my case the white place on the picture. The white color we clicked on will appear selected.

7. Then go to the toolbar again and click brush. I usually the one that is like a circle. The size of the brush doesn’t really matter.

8. Now change the color you want to paint with, by cliking on the square, (look at the screencap). Once you change the color, click OK.

9. Paint the space selected as you can see on the screencap, and it’s done! (:

10. Now you have to repeat the steps from 5 to 9, with rest of the spaces in white (in my case), you want to change the color of.

11. Now you can add PSDs (colouring), text, effects, bassically, whatever you want. This is the final result:

Step 1

Start by opening photo. Go to Image > Image size to reduce photo size to 1000px width and 750px height.

Step 2

We are going now to create noise effect. Create new layer, press D to set up foreground and background colors as black and white and then apply Filter > Render > Clouds.

Step 3

After that apply Filter > Noise > Add Noise with next presets:

Step 4

Change layer mode to Soft Light for this layer.

Step 5

Now we are going to create light sepia effect. For this purpose I created new layer above and fill it with color of #e6e1cc.

Step 6

Then change layer mode to Color and you should get next effect.

Step 7

After that create additional layer with Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Levels:

And set up following levels presets:

Step 8

To add scratches to the photo create new layer, press D to set up foreground and background colors as black and white and then apply Filter > Render > Clouds again.

Step 9

Apply Filter > Render > Fibers:

Step 10

Now apply Image > Adjustments > Threshold:

Step 11

Now apply Image > Adjustments > Threshold:

Step 12

Apply again Filter > Blur > Blur More.

Step 13

Change layer mode to Soft Light and you will see the difference.

Step 14

Reduce layer opacity to 70%.

Step 15

Create a new layer. Select Gradient Tool, select some appropriate colors, for example colors of #e5e5e5, #000000 and drag a radial gradient.

After that change layer mode for this layer to Overlay and tutorial is complete.
