You had been Tony’s assistant ever since Pepper was promoted to CEO of Stark industries. It was a job that didn’t only required you to work with Tony but also with his best friend Colonel James Rhodes. It was hard work to keep Tony’s agenda organized, the gossip in the press to the bare minimum and to get him everywhere he needed to be in time. Like right now he was again running late for a board meeting. “Tony I know this is not your top priority but this board meeting is really important and you have to get there in time.” You started rattling as you pushed open the door to his workspace “Also you need to make a decision about whether you are going to speech at MIT, Caltech or both.” “Why don’t you make a decision for me, you have proved to make excellent decisions.” He grinned at you. You were about to hit him back with a sarcastic comment when you noticed Rhodey was also standing in the room. Just like that your mind went blank and you completely forgot what you wanted to so say. “Morning y/n.” He greeted you. It took a moment of idiotic grinning for you to get your act back together “Morning Colonel Rhodes, I didn’t know you would be here as well.” “Like I said before you can call me Rhodey.” He urged “And Pepper told me about the board meeting. So I thought I’d help you out a bit and get him ready for you.” Pointing at tony who was already in his suit. Something you thought you still had to force him into. “Oh thank god, that saves a lot off time. Thanks.” You grabbed Tony’s arm and started dragging him to the door to get him into a car “Now you might actually be in time for this, and I won’t get judged for it.” “I wouldn’t let them judge you.” “You don’t really have a say in that. Are you coming as well Rhodey or can we drop you somewhere off on our way there?” Rhodey had been walking a bit behind the two of you, he was still fascinated about how easily you had earned Tony’s trust and everyone around you. There was something about you people couldn’t just hate and he was one off them, although he was potentially even more affected by it then the others. Tony had notice right away when you and Rhodey first met.Rhodey didn’t want to hear it at first, but lately he found himself just making up excuse after excuse to spend more time with you. “Rhodey?” Your voice pulled him back to reality. “Sorry what did you say?” “I asked if we could drop you off somewhere on the way or if you want to come with us?” You grinned “Yeah I will come with you.” The driver was already waiting with the car and before you knew it you the three of you were on your way to the meeting. “So Tony what’s it going be?” “A cheeseburger, maybe a milkshake.” “I was talking about the speeches, do you want to do MIT, Caltech or do think you can find the time to do both?” You pulled a tablet out of your bag to pull up his agenda. “Why can’t you make a decision?” “Do you know how many speech requests you get?” you pulled up an eyebrow “Believe me I have made a couple big decisions already by cutting it down to two.” “What would he do without you.” Rhodey sighed “I’m afraid he would be your problem then.” “You know what.” Tony interrupted your conversation with Rhodey, he saw the way the both of you looked at each other and he knew just what to do about it.”I will do both of the speeches, but only if you come to my party tonight.” “I don’t know about that.” You tried. As you started discussing with Tony you missed the hopeful look Rhodey had in his eyes. Maybe the party tonight was his chance to make move since he never found the right moment to ask you on a date. You finally agreed and Tony even promised to arrange a dress for you once the board meeting was over.
That night when you arrived at the party it was already crowed. Tony had fulfilled his promise and had a gorgeous dress delivered by your place. One that perfectly matched your complexion and hugged your body in all the right places. It took a moment before you found Rhodey and the others, quickly making your way to them. “Look at you! Doesn’t she look beautiful Rhodey?!” Tony exclaimed, causing your cheeks to heat up “Leave her be Tony.” Pepper lectured him before complementing you on how you looked. Tony kept pushing Rhodey to make a move, so much that even you noticed. Rhodey finally put it to a stop by asking you to dance with him. Causing Tony to make a weird squeeking sound. You looked at Rhodeys hand reaching out for a moment before taking it. “Ofcourse.” Rhodey took you to the center off the dancefloor, this time you didn’t miss the way he looked at you. You tried to hide the smile on your face but you really couldn’t. “Have I told you you look amazing?” He wondered as he started twirling you around on the dance floor “Not that you’re not stunning the way you normally look, I mean you do.” “Thank you Rhodey.” They dance to the rest of the song in silence, neither of you feeling the urge to fill it. It was only after the song ended you broke the silence by asking if he wanted to get off the dancefloor. He held onto your hand a little longer making you turn back around “Something wrong Rhodey?” “I was wondering, if you’d like to go on a date with me?” He asked “A date, really?” You were taken by surprise “Yes, maybe dinner or something?” “Are you sure you want me?” “I don’t think I’ve ever been so sure of something.” He gave you a small smile “Then I’d love to go on a date with you Rhodey.” You took a step closer “But only if we dance again.” “I will never say no to that.”
