DUBSMASH or DUMBSMASH?

I’m a new victim of Dubsmash.

To explain to you all, Dubsmash is a mobile app that lets you take a selfie video while you lip-synced an audio of a famous line from a TV show, movie, or even a song. That phenomenon became viral nowadays after its inception and introduction to Pinoys.

The most popular of all Dubsmashes, is to imitate Kris Aquino.

I did Kris three times, but not the ones that are popular and viral, like her conversation with Darla Sauler (the head writer of Kris TV). Some of those lines are a bit annoying. As a matter of fact, it does.

When I watched this video from Lourd de Veyra, not only I laughed on what Jun Sabayton is doing, but to notice that Lourd is explaining his side about the phenomenon, after some viral content like Gangnam Style, Candy Crush, and Make-up Transformations ebb and flow.

So, why did he gave the title of this episode as “Dumbsmash”?

Are we Pinoys getting dumb because we spend all of our time doing Dubsmash?

No. We’re not dumb. It’s just for fun.
