okay so earlier i was at a stoplight in the passenger seat of my roommates car, and there was this dude trying really hard to put a sign into the ground in the cold. At first i was like aww, poor dude, its cold, but then as he started to walk away i realized it was one of those 'god said one MAN and one WOMAN the GAYS are EVIL' signs

and i just got so mad that i jumped out of the car (after waiting till he had walked off a bit cause i didn't want him to beat me up) and yanked the sign out of the ground and threw it down

then i ran the three feet back to the car, smacked into the open door, and launched myself into the seat as the light turned green. i know have a pretty sizable bruise on my arm and no regrets

#1 Soulmate AU (I hope I did okay imagreatbowler) Also this kind of got away from me and could actually probably be longer but I had to control myself.

It's not that she hates her soulmate -this Stiles Stilinski guy- but she doesn't want to be with him and she's pretty sure he doesn't want a soulmate, either. They're friends, sure, but they're not kissing friends. And Malia's okay with it. It's almost a slap in the face to whoever or whatever decided to give them all soulmates at birth. She knows that the government will probably force her to marry Stiles one day, but for the moment, things are okay.

And then she meets Isaac Lahey. There's an instant attraction there, they both feel it. But they belong to different people -Stiles and Allison- but still. The attraction is there so much that it makes Malia feel like there are literal sparks on her skin when he accidentally touches her and it makes her want to be closer to him and she hates the writing on her arm more than ever, the tattoo signifying that they could never be a thing.

Still, they try to push past the attraction and just be friends. And, for awhile, it works, she and Isaac have a lot in common and, yeah, they snark at each other a lot and argue, but at the end of the day, they know they're still going to be friends. It's a nice feeling. But even now, the electric current that she always feels whenever she's around Isaac still courses through her and she knows he feels it, too. It builds and builds and builds until they give into it one day (Malia knows she should feel worse about this than she does, but Isaac has said that he and Allison are only friends, too, that she's in love with some girl named Cora). They kiss passionately and with purpose and it feels better than anything Malia could've imagined.

Kissing is added to their hang out schedule now, even if they know they're not supposed to. Malia doesn't care and neither does Isaac. They're just kissing and having a good time and being friends. Even if their soulmates are other people, this is okay, right? It feels like it's right, so Malia doesn't question it much.

Besides, kissing isn't all they do. They talk about everything - from TV to music to sports and soulmates and life and everything. She thinks Isaac's kind of fascinating and he must think the same about her because he hangs on her every word, more than even Stiles does (and Stiles is usually very attentive when she talks). She likes him, she really likes him even though it's not his name that's tattooed on her arm. She's still not entirely sure how the soulmates are decided, though.

He tells her he loves her after a few months of them kissing and talking and hanging out. It stuns her. And terrifies her. She's always known that Isaac is technically forbidden. That someday she'll have to give him up and marry Stiles and fulfill some kind of destiny. But she thought it would be easier to give him up if she thought it was nothing more than kissing. But she's realizing that maybe she kind of loves him too and it's paralyzing, knowing that she's going to have to be with Stiles and he's going to have to be with Allison. And while she doesn't hate Stiles or Allison by any means, she doesn't want to give Isaac up. Still, she takes a deep breath and says it back to him.

Isaac smiles and pulls her in, kissing her deeply and she can't help but return it. She knows that eventually her time with Isaac is going to run out, but she wants to savor all the moments she gets with him right now. So when he pulls away, she smiles at him a little bit and pulls him back in, forcing every other thought from her mind and just focusing on him. Isaac Lahey. Her not quite soulmate, but the person she loves just the same.
