“I wish I could remember more about her.”
"Ronald, my office. Now."
“Oh, am I in trouble now?” Is he being playful? Yes he is. He can sense the eye roll she’s probably going to give him coming.
He’s doing as he’s told, though.
It's safe to say that Patty isn't the most liked woman in the world but today she received something at work which she hasn't for a little while. A death threat. An empty one, most probably, and whilst she's trying to not let it get to her she isn't all too keen on going home without having a drink first. So it's off to see Ronnie she goes -- she knows he'll be hospital and that's all she can ask. She let's herself in and her first task? Rummaging through the cupboards for something decent.
By now, he’s used to having Patty’s company at least once a week. They’ll sit, have a drink(or three) and talk. He keeps up with her for the most part and well, she makes him laugh and gives him a hard time.
Coming home to her rooting through the cabinets isn’t anything new, but somehow, he’s got the feeling that tonight is a little more urgent. A little less ‘I’m here to talk’ and more ‘I need this.’ That’s why he doesn’t tease her tonight when he finds her. That’s why, when he goes over to her, he puts a hand on her shoulder and squeezes gently.
“Come.”
Just before heading to the office, Patty drops by at Ronnie's and pushes an envelope through the door. Inside is a single key and a note which reads, "My driver will pick you up in a few hours and take you to my beach house. You need a break. I'll keep an eye on things while you're away. I'm not taking no as an answer. Oh, and Ronald? I have a very old, very expensive bottle of bourbon there. You're welcome to a glass. Consume it all and I will make your life a misery. P x"
It takes Ronnie all the time he’s waiting for the driver after packing a bag and half of the journey just to figure out how to send her a message on his phone. Blasted technology, he thinks. But as he gets out of the car at the house? He’s finally managed to send it.
[Text: P Hewes.] I don’t know if I’ll be able to restrain myself. You’d best join me later and help.

“Where did you find that?”
"He’s having trouble speaking. I think I fractured his larynx."
“Lovely. And why, exactly, did you feel it necessary to do such a thing?”

“And how may I help you?”
