So todays topic is... *drum roll* Monty and the coach! I won’t expand too much on this, don’t worry... or will I? I was supposed to post it yesterday but I thought it would be too much posting in one day lol.
I’ve been thinking a bit about this and I really have the feeling that Monty considers the coach a father to him. Not literally a father, but I think he respects him as he’d respect his own father if he was a good one. He throws a tantrum to the coach for not beeing elected captain and they really look like a father and a son “arguing” because the son is grounded and can’t accept it.
Also, remember the scene where the coach get to speak to Monty about his feelings about Bryce’s death? I really think that Monty trust him as he would trust a good father, and that’s why he got to open to him that much. And I really think he didn’t only speak about those feelings when he said “yeah, it hurts”, he also spoke about the feelings related to his sexuality and to all the shit that was happening in his life lately, all in figurative sense. Not mentioning it directly, you know what I mean.
Finally, remember this? Even if Monty couldn’t believe those words, I have the impresion that he felt touched and he really appreciated what the coach Kerba said, because anything coming from the coach is important for him.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that when Monty sais “I didn’t... why people keep saying me that?” (or something like that) when Kerba starts the conversation about Bryce’s death they look again like a father and son where the father wants to get into his sons emotions but the son wouldn’t let him in because he is a man and he is strong, so he doesn’t have emotions.
