It hurt. She couldn’t remember if the last time she’d been fatally injured had felt quite like this. On second thought, perhaps it was good she didn’t remember? Ugh, her thoughts were beginning to scatter a bit. Where was she anyway? She stumbled, fell against a door, and then because it seemed like the best choice for reasons she couldn’t identify, she opened the door and entered.
“Oh, hello,” she said brightly upon the realization that she was not alone in the... what was this place? Not that it mattered, really. “Don’t mind me, I’m just dying is all.”
Shame, Angel! Bleeding all over the floor, aren’t I? She fell to her hands and knees and stared at her fingers as they began to glow. “Ah, right. It is happening again. So much uncertainty lately, I wasn’t... wasn’t... ah!”
Abruptly, the flow of regeneration energy took over, surrounding her in a blinding light, lifting her bodily off the floor. In just a handful of seconds, it was over, and she landed unevenly on her feet, a brand new woman. She stared at her hands for a moment, blinking slowly.
“Ten again,” she said with a smile, turning to face the man in the room. “I think that’s good, don’t you?”
