“winter baby"
Our muses are locked out and have to keep busy in the cold until someone else arrives to let them in.
The cold nipped at their noses, the wind blew through their clothes and they were locked out of the house. They had forgotten their key when they left the house earlier in the evening so now they were shivering on the front door step. Wendy crossed her arms over her chest after fixing her scarf around her neck. “Bae.” She squeaked watching as her breath broke through the cold air, making it her sigh out loud. Why didn’t they have a hidden key? What were the two of them supposed to do for the next three hours?
Wendy stepped closer to Bae and pressed her cheek against his shoulder, huddling in so she didn’t freeze. Her teeth were chattering and her mind was trying to focus on something other than her body shutting down and freezing within the next twenty minutes. “We’re going to turn into popsicles, I’ll be a banana flavored.” She gestured to her hair with a chuckle then took a step back. “Come on let’s go catch snowflakes on our tongues while we wait.” She tugged him along gently onto the grass of the yard. Letting go of his arm, she tilted her head up and stuck her tongue out. The sky was a pumpkin color but the snow was a white hue as it fell from it slowly and softly.
She smiled widely as the flakes touched her tongue creating shivers down her spine. She laughed and looked over at him and crinkled her nose. Even though she was freezing and her fingers were starting to go numb she was enjoying just being out here and spending time with him. She loved him, he was her family and nothing was ever going to change that.
