I'm From Nevada

Today I was sitting next to this guy and he kept talking and so I couldn't really concentrate on my work so I was just listening to him while pretending to do my work. He was from Rancho Cucamonga and he finds it weird that people that live here and are from California say that they're from cali and people from Vegas say they're from Vegas. Why don't people say they're from Nevada?

This guy made a good point. Why don't people say they're from Nevada when there are many more cities in California than Nevada? Saying you're from California is very broad and general and doesn't say much. Saying Nevada, people would think you can only come from 1 of maybe 4 cities and Vegas is going to be the first guess in the minds of many anyways. Well with that said, I'm from Covina and I live in Nevada.

(I actually see how it can go both ways, but this is my initial point of view.)
