Kaitlin Apostol tells us of her journey towards sharing her sexuality with her family, one tinged with the regret of doing so after her father had already passed away.
Her aunt reveals, however, “I just want you to know, your father knew. And he loved you regardless, he didn’t care. It’s something that we had talked about, and he was just waiting for you to, y’know, come out on your own time.”
Fearing rejection based on the uncertainty she felt towards herself and her sexuality, Kaitlin learns that accepting yourself is the first step to receiving acceptance from others.

Although Kaitlin’s family demonstrated a love and acceptance growing more common in modern society, not everyone may find themselves in the same situation. If you need help, please access our resource center here.
