For those who don’t know Imghrane: it’s an Amazigh band with songs mostly in Tachelhit. Most members are from Tiznit. I interviewed their lead singer Larbi Habou for Dewereldmorgen.be.
Part of the interview translated to English: “It doesn’t depend on language if you want to reach people [as an artist] because Morocco is a mix of languages and also of cultures and religions. The most important thing to be successful is to believe in what you have to offer and to present that with confidence. But the Moroccan television and radio channels are a problem. I’m talking about all the media of the Moroccan state. They don’t give Amazigh music the attention it needs. They don’t give Amazigh artists their rights [to be seen and heard]... The same goes for filmmakers and actors who use an Amazigh language.”
