Unmask Yourself: No Fear - Chapter Update (5) 🥰 ❀࿐

Meeting in Progress is the last posted chapter and it's from Shee's point of view.

I know the story evolves very slowly, but I just can't help but enjoy the little details that pop in my head.

He stepped into the familiar intersection and headed straight to the gates of the elderly home. His grandmother hadn’t felt well the previous time he visited and it bugged him. He was feeling guilty that he wasn’t around more, even though he visited her every few days when he was home.      Standing in front of her door, he noticed it wasn’t fully closed. Next, he heard noise and the familiar voice of the head nurse. His heart jumped into his throat as an overwhelming fear washed over his being. Shee pushed down the desire to barge through the door and carefully peeked in instead.

“Very well, then.” Ay nodded. “Let’s form that Allied Division and actually start doing something.”      Shikamaru, who was writing the whole time, put down a paper. “We should figure out ways to communicate more efficiently. I have a few ideas.” He scribed one more word and stabbed the paper with the tip of his pencil. “About infiltration… We need to pick a shinobi who is capable of entering the organisation under plausible premises.”      A crafty smile appeared on Mei’s red lips. “I can already offer one of my best for undercover missions.” Her smile grew to a grin. “Some of you actually know her.”

Hello there and Happy Halloween :) I must admit that I restrain myself from taking part in gift-exchange events due to bad experience in the past. I do make gifts for people I really find precious and are dear to my heart.

This time, however, I decided to jump the boat because, well, I find these people trustworthy. I measured the pros and cons and thought it's worth the risk ^^

It turned out that I got to create a gift for my friend and a wonderful human being @phoenixleaf. I hope I know her well enough and this story is up to her liking. I know she's been busy with irl stuff that keeps her away from reading. Anyway, I know she'll find time :)) I have to mention my ever-persistent support force who have never let me down (you, dear, kind hearts): @servenna and @clumsydragon28.

Shee, after already having doubts about where his life will lead, gets sent out on a new mission where he must twist the truth about himself. It’s not a solo mission, however, and he is accompanied on the field by a former teammate - the same one he had developed a soft spot for and had unintentionally hurt.

A promise by her kage to get the freedom she has desired for a long time convinces Ruka to agree to this one last mission. While working undercover, she’s able to find herself… and perhaps a little bit more.

It's somewhat related to Unmask Yourself :), but in no way reading it is mandatory for following the current story (though I suspect only people who read the first one and are fans of Shee and/or Ruka would come for this one).

It was about time to start working on this thing... It has been haunting me for far too long.

This is a story I wrote for a gift. All of the characters' traits and etc. are taken from the few stories involving those characters I read. So if I've strayed from their personalities... well... it's personal interpretation. And I am not particularly sorry about it. :D

Dancing For You

First was the loss of balance. Time had stopped for a fraction of a second while his brain assessed the situation. There was nothing he could do to prevent the fall. Panic rose quickly in his chest while his mind kept estimating the trajectory of landing. 

Second was the pull of gravity — the fall. In reality, it lasted a second, maybe less. But for him, the surging towards the wooden floor stretched in time.

Third was the contact with the hard ground. He didn’t feel the pain until a moment later when an involuntary scream spurred out of his lungs. Sharp intakes of breath took turns with hissed exhales. Sobs shook his body, and he didn’t even try to stop the flowing tears.

His hands flew to his ankle and clutched it.

“Inojin!” Mirai rushed ahead, kneeling with a loud thud right next to him. “Easy, easy.” Her voice was trembling as she reached for his quickly-swelling foot. “Let me see.”

He whimpered but complied with her request, and moved his hands away.

“Ok,” she breathed out. “We have to take you to the hospital. It may be broken.”
