The updates are going slowly, but I can't really do anything about it right now. The story unfolds at its own pace as if I don't really get any saying. Sometimes (more often than not) I imagine that the stories themselves are living things that just use us, humans, as vessels to come into this world. I've read this somewhere and I think that there's some truth about it.

Chapter 6: New Year

“You will be allowed to keep improving your medical skills in the name of Kiri. Your undercover missions will be kept to a minimum. However, if a mission appears that requires your level of experience and abilities, you will be called. You will answer that call and follow your duty.” He paused and checked in with the rest of the elders until they all nodded. The man’s look pierced Ruka’s soul one more time. “That is not negotiable.” She felt relief. They didn’t take away what she loved. A flicker of irrational hope smouldered that they might one day change their minds and let her go. At the same time, her logical side knew better. This was a good middle ground… at least for the moment. “Understood.” Her voice floated softly and quietly, but still clear enough to be heard.

Meeting in Progress is the last posted chapter and it's from Shee's point of view.

I know the story evolves very slowly, but I just can't help but enjoy the little details that pop in my head.

He stepped into the familiar intersection and headed straight to the gates of the elderly home. His grandmother hadn’t felt well the previous time he visited and it bugged him. He was feeling guilty that he wasn’t around more, even though he visited her every few days when he was home.      Standing in front of her door, he noticed it wasn’t fully closed. Next, he heard noise and the familiar voice of the head nurse. His heart jumped into his throat as an overwhelming fear washed over his being. Shee pushed down the desire to barge through the door and carefully peeked in instead.

“Very well, then.” Ay nodded. “Let’s form that Allied Division and actually start doing something.”      Shikamaru, who was writing the whole time, put down a paper. “We should figure out ways to communicate more efficiently. I have a few ideas.” He scribed one more word and stabbed the paper with the tip of his pencil. “About infiltration… We need to pick a shinobi who is capable of entering the organisation under plausible premises.”      A crafty smile appeared on Mei’s red lips. “I can already offer one of my best for undercover missions.” Her smile grew to a grin. “Some of you actually know her.”

I'm moving slowly in the depths of this story. But I think it's alright. It's exactly as fast as I can.

Chapter 4: An Old Lady’s Advice

“Of course. You're the closest thing to a grandchild I have here. And I appreciate everything you do for us. The least I can do is give you this special recipe, but” – Tanaka leaned forward, her eyes turning serious – “you need to promise me that you will share it only with your kids and grandkids. If anyone asks for it, you gotta lie, cheat and change proportions, ingredients, whatever.” “Oh…” “Do you agree with my terms?” Ruka nodded with a gentle smile. “Don’t worry, Mrs Tanaka. Your recipe will be safe and most likely will die with me.” The old woman sized her up before shaking her head. “I honestly doubt so.”
