Here’s a Thai idiom I recently learned:
It’s pronounced “ngoo ngoo bplaa bplaa” and it translates to “snake snake fish fish” but people use it to say that they know very little about something, especially a language.
Next time you tell a Thai person that you speak Thai a little bit (พูดภาษาไทยได้นิดหน่อย or poôt thai dâi nít nòy) try saying พูดภาษาไทยได้งูๆ ปลาๆ (poôt thai dâi ngoo ngoo bplaa bplaa) instead.
