#nofilter Good morning, beautiful people! Today is the day where I am going to come out of my hiding! . As many of you already know, I’m taking part in @bonniechristine #immersioncourse2021 and I really believe it’s a life changer! When I signed up for the course I felt too embarrassed and intimidated to put a real-life photograph of myself into my profile (I used an avatar instead)! When I was asked to introduce myself, I felt too intimidated and embarrassed to write about me — instead I left a link to my Instagram account (which does show ‘me’, but more the artwork than the person behind it? — tell me whether I’m right)! . Eight weeks into the course, having worked through all of Bonnie’s modules, I have created my first ever collection, and even though it’s only a start, I’m kind of proud of myself: After many years of compromising my art and career in order to support my husband’s, working part-time as a yoga teacher and therapist, walking side-by-side as our children grew up, I have finally taken a big leap to begin a new career! . I’m dreaming of illustrating children’s books and/or designing beautiful wallpapers and textiles! I still constantly hear that little voice in the back of my heart (“Really? Aged 54?!! Too late to begin again!), but then there is another small voice, coming straight from the heart! It’s whispering “don’t stop here — it’s beautiful inside!” . So I just keep going! Aged 54 or not! I still have time! And “it’s not a race”, as @bonniechristine said! . Thanks for being in this with me! Bear is back! . But he’s not alone! Surrounded by magnificent roots and trees he watches countless bunnies hopping about, and even though each of them goes their different ways, their paths will always cross again! . This is what I consider the “hero” of my collection in progress! I somehow feel there is movement and flow, but also contemplation and stillness — exactly how I myself want to feel! Hello lovely people, I can’t believe I did it — this morning I added the last piece to my first collection ever! . Certainly it’s not done, but I managed to design 2 “hero prints”, as well as 6 blender prints to go with it! I still have to decide on the yellow or plain version? . Hello world, what an interesting week I had so far! . After some procrastination, I started the process by scribbling down some rough ideas, went into sketching, polishing them in Procreate, taking them into Adobe Illustrator, and finally turned them into three different patterns for „Roots & Wings“! . I am kind of happy with the results, but I’m far from being done with them! I feel I need to work on different colour versions next? Colours don’t come to me easily, so this is a real challenge for me! . Magic happens when a loose pencil sketch turns into a simple repeat pattern! . This is the first pattern of my first collection with the working title „roots and wings“! Roots stands for family, and wings is the capacity to set your kids free, fully entrusting them that they know how to spread their wings and fly! I’m in the middle of this process Right now, so this is my personal story! Good morning, world! Yesterday, whilst waiting for the release of module 4 (jay!!) of #immersion2021 by the wonderful @bonniechristine I started doodling in my sketchbook, using a different kind of art supplies (ink pen, pencil, felt tip, ....)! . After having vectorised them in AI, I started drawing random „blobs“ on my iPad, using the #astropadapp to bring it straight into Illustrator. All I needed then was to layer lines and textures on top of that, and before I knew it, I had created my first „diagonal pattern“ — a floral print at last! . Today it’s brainstorming and gathering inspiration to kickstart my very first pattern collection! Its so scary to think soooo big, but I’ll keep you posted about how it goes!
