Art Theft on Byler TikTok
I have made it to byler tiktok. But at what cost? Last night I found an account that claims art made in 2022 by @scarbeau as theirs. Girl be fucking for real. You did not make that "dacades ago". I commented on it calling them out. Hours later more comments like mine had been made AND an account that seemingly is scar themself left comments saying seeing their art on their fyp was crazy. However, when I went to check today, all of the callout comments had been deleted. And they keep deleting them. I did DM them but no response. So here I am with a stupid callout post on tumblr. Because 500k+ views with STOLEN art is crazy.
If you don't know me, hi, I am actually the professional art theft hater. Here are my credentials 1 2. Wasn't cool with art theft in 2023 and most definitely am not cool with it in 2025.
Every time I bring attention to art theft, it's not just about the single incident I am higlighting, it is about the phenomenon as a whole. Art theft is upsetting. It is especially upsetting because I have been back in the fandom for two weeks and I am already finding theft. I can't imagine how bad it will become when the season starts airing and more artists start making more art.
I don't have a presense on tiktok, I barely have a presense here, so my word barely makes a difference, but I have to try. I know many people in the byler community of tumblr are young and use tiktok, so I am hoping to reach you and make you understand that behavior like this is not acceptable. Or maybe you will learn to call out this behavior when you see it. That is why I am making this post.
I am also making it in case the user blocks me.
Art theft is always wrong, even when crediting the artist. Because it is theft as long as the artist does not consent to it. Unles the artist explicitly says reposts with credit allowed, you are not allowed to repost their art. I don't care that you want more people to see it, share a link to it instead, shoutout the artist, do antyhing else. Do. Not. Steal.
So if you steal art, fuck you. And if I find out about it, I will be mean about it publicly. Just a heads up.
