This fic is a gift for Terryfphanatics for the 2021 Vampire Chronicles Secret Gift Exchange. They wanted something autumn/winter themed with a domestic quality. I wanted to write about Christmas, and the complicated feelings that many of us have about it, especially when it comes to family. I found out that Dickens' A Christmas Carol came out in 1843, which would have been in the middle-late Rue Royale Era. What if Louis brought it home one Christmas and read it aloud to Claudia and Lestat? How would they each react to it, especially in the context of the works which influenced how each of them perceive their world?
I hope you enjoy it, Terry!
Summary: The unholy family. Three Christmas scenes: Lestat takes the Sacrament, Louis reads Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol to his family, and an adult Claudia discovers Kierkegaard.
