ImmortalAU Kari (at her worst stage of it)

(the closest anyone is getting to a human kari ref anytime soon)

Specific traits that ultimately she would get, granted some things would be further along in the death count amount:

High body temperature; lower (but still high) in the beginning, much higher and worryingly so in the later stages.

Claws/Talons.

Specks of yellow/orange in her eyes.

Frequent nosebleeds, especially further on into the death counts.

Slight feather growth, but nothing extreme; particularly at her arms.

Wings. They come along at the later stages of the death count amount. Of everything, they’d be the last trait to show.

The bands on her suit are colored differently to represent as someone who had the phoenix DNA put in them. Anyone with the DNA would have the suit bands in the particular color to have them stand out - essentially branded as one of the expendables in the batch.

Irreconcilable Differences

The air still smelt and tasted of stone dust, that was how new the castle was. Aradir had also picked a crest, a tower and a bolt of lightning on a blue background, which hung on a shield over the gatehouse. The guards, Normans all, waved Arawynn through, mentioning that they had been told to expect someone of her appearance. There was a third guard waiting just past the portcullis as well to take her inside.

“We’re still clearing up some of the scaffolding,” He told her apologetically in French, “Please watch your head,” He led her towards the keep. The gates were open to accommodate the people, mostly soldiers, that went up and down. Even inside, it was an impressive castle. It certainly helped that Aradir had helped the new King win the war, and had been rewarded with land and gold.

“Lord Aradir is this way,” The guard took Arawynn to one of the larger rooms. A wooden table was in the process of being built here, but there were no craftsmen yet, just Aradir, who was sitting on the floor, reading some paperwork.

Silly minor AU/headcanon thought that came to fruition via one of @ask-painter and i’s threads.. phone drawing for this as I am not at home to use procreate.

Anyways, on to the AU/Headcanon itself!

The idea of Urbanshade ultimately choosing to try and boost the odds of the Crystal being retrieved via means of reviving the assets that they send down into the Blacksite - said assets being Expendables. In a place where deaths are so abundant, I feel as if there’s a point where killing off hundreds become far less efficient in terms of finding more and more people as time goes on.

Thus, the idea of Urbanshade beginning to implement putting certain DNA into a batch of Expendables. The DNA of animals akin to Phoenixes, where immortality / revival / rebirth exists.

The more deaths and revivals that happen with an Expendable with the strand of DNA, the more changes to their body; it’s an imperfect method of retaining bodies in the dangerous environment of the Blacksite. Effective immortality comes with a price, even if in more minor ways so at first.

Shoving (human expendable)Kari into this as a RevivalAU type thing.. Maybe I’ll label it as the ImmortalAU. I’ll figure it out LOL.

The side effects of those with the Phoenix Strand of DNA:

Higher body temperatures that only increase each death that happens.

Changes to the body, such as fingers becoming more akin to claws.

Changes in eye color. This can be as minor as specks of an amber color, to as major as a full eye color change. Generally one or the other, unless far along in death counts.

In more extreme cases, generally which happen at a high death count, agony in simply preforming tasks and whatnot. At a certain point, the human body struggles to adapt to the build up of changes.

Aradir wasn’t looking forward to this. Now that the war was over, and things had settled down, Henry had written to him and told him that he wanted an alliance with Spain, and here was what was going to happen. Aradir had responded with an extremely strongly worded one in response, but eventually he had given in. Henry was one of the few monarchs that he had actually respected in his life, after all. It wouldn’t do to mess up that relationship, even at the cost of Aradir’s own personal life.

The guests were expected in the early evening. It had been a wonderfully warm day and Aradir’s servants had done up the castle nicely in anticipation. The peasants from the nearby village were all dressed up in their best as well, lining the roads. They were good people, Aradir had to give them that.

Whilst a normal Duke might have dressed up in finery, Aradir wasn’t that type of person. He wore his armour instead- outdated chainmail with plate armour on top- and a cloak over one shoulder. His hair was braided oddly over one ear, but the people here were used to it. He doubted that his new wife was going to be happy. His face- and the rest of him- had small scars here and there from all the non-fatal wounds he had received. As the messenger arrived, saying that their guests were on the way, he tried to hide his unhappiness at this whole situation and made his way down to the gates to greet them.
